I love a good time-suck

My friends, I didn't mean to abandon you . To say work has been busy would be an understatement; by the time I get home, I don't want to deal with the computer. I would post at lunch(as I am doing now), but I have a new obsession....something I like to call time-suck websites.

These are websites with funny pictures(or disturbing), sarcastic comments, and are generally a way to add some humor into my day. Here are some of my favorites:

STFU, Parents-- Anyone have Facebook friends who over-share about their kids? Annoying. I understand being proud, but take a step back from being ridiculous.

STFU, Marrieds---Along the same lines as STFU, Parents....you know couples who are just plain sickening on their statuses? Send'em here.

Lamebook.com---A new favorite. Since Facebook is now open to everyone, it has gotten ridiculous. It isn't quite as bad as MySpace, but it is getting close. I see status updates on my feed daily that I think about sending in.

Awkward Family Photos--I mean, really. Who would think up some of these pictures?

TackyWeddings.com---I am always sucked into looking at anything tacky. Kinda like a car wreck. Can you believe someone actually thought what you are looking at is a good idea?!

I'm sure there are more, but I need to get back to work. I promise not to neglect my blog so much!

Do you have any funny websites to share?

Word Wednesday

This week, I'm handing Word Wednesday over to you!

I'm drawing a blank on books to get from the library. What are you reading?

Fall TV is here!

I'm super excited about the new fall season coming up! I really don't watch a *ton* of tv, but I do have maybe 1 show a night I like to watch....Here we go!

Last night started off....

Oh yeah, I love it. Plus.....how can you not love Chuck Bass? I mean, he's Chuck Bass!Tonight:
The Biggest Loser. Which I will be watching after my sculpting class at the gym. Proud to say I got up at 6:20 this morning and did Level 1, Day 2 of the Shred!

Thursday:

Oh Dunder Mifflin, I've missed you. And I'm in love with Jim Halpert.

And in a few weeks....

This has been my show since Day 1. I'm hoping this year stays away from the crap storylines. But OMG---GEORGE! And then Ellen Pompeo(Meredith) is pregnant. How will they handle it?

What shows are you looking forward to? I also love Friday Night Lights, but it won't be back on until January.

Musical Monday

Hello! I hope you all had a good weekend. It was a rainy one here in the 901. I had my alarm set to get up early to do Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred(I swear I'm doing it all this time!), but when it went of and I heard the downpour outside, I decided to do it after work. I snuggled down in my bed(I LOVE my bed. So comfy) and slept another 30 minutes. I'm kinda hoping for a rainy Saturday soon so I can fully enjoy my bed and the rain :)

Today's (unintentional) theme is music. I have a couple of things on my mind.

The VMAs

1) Kanye is a giant tool. I <3>

Whitney does a much better fashion recap, but these are just a few I pulled.

Oh Whitney, for a girl who "works" in fashion.....

Lady Gaga....love the music, but the woman is crazy as hell.
Nice, Kanye. Not only did you show your ass(and the President called you a jackass), ya girl looks like she's been wrapped in reptile printed saran wrap. Klassy!
Oh J.Lo, are you even relevant enough to be at the VMAs any more? Those shoes do nothing for your legs.

Finally, I liked Taylor's dress, but think she could have gone with something more colorful. This is the VMAs, have fun. This dress would be great for a more formal awards show. I do like how it drapes on her.

My newest workout playlist

I threw this together last night, and really like it. It is a mix of all sorts of music. I muted Jillian today(sorry, Jill) while shredding and listened to it, and did a workout out of Fitness magazine right after shredding for a nice 40-minute workout. Here you go!

  1. Party in the U.S.A.--Miley Cyrus
  2. Empire State of Mind(feat. Alicia Keys)--Jay Z(heard this for the first time on the VMAs and immediately bought it)
  3. Poker Face--- Lady GaGa
  4. The Way You Make Me Feel--Michael Jackson(I did see the tribute--awesome. and I actually really want to see "This is It")
  5. I Gotta Feeling---Black Eyed Peas
  6. New York Girls--Morningwood
  7. Pop--NSync
  8. Black or White---Michael Jackson
  9. Paper Planes Remix---M.I.A.
  10. It's Gonna Be Me--N*Sync
  11. Man in the Mirror---Michael Jackson.
That's it for tonight! Have a good night!

A little late!

Sorry for no Word Wednesday. I had a kick-ass workout class last night, got home and ate dinner...and at 10 PM was completely exhausted. I read a little of the September issue of Glamour(Totally need to renew my subsciption) and had my light off by 10:30. Bliss.

One of the perks of vacation was ample time to read! I love sitting on the beach and reading. In anticipation of all this time, I took 4 books and 4 magazines with me(...yes, for just 3 full days down there). I managed to finish 3 books and 1 magazine(September's Self) Here we go!

Beach Music by Pat Conroy. I picked this up on a whim and ended up really enjoying it. It took a minute to get pulled in, but he is an excellent writer. This was the first book I've read by Conroy, and I plan on reading more. One thing--LONG! And a slightly slow read. I actually started this in Memphis Monday night, and didn't finish until Saturday morning!

Yes! I finally read The Time Traveler's Wife and I really enjoyed it. Again, slow to get into but then I found it hard to put down. I highly recommend it--and only $12 at Target(the rest of the books I took were from the library). I really want to see the movie.

Commencement by J.Courtney Sullivan. I actually started this on the drive back, and finished it Tuesday night. It was an interesting read--not at all what I expected. The story centers around 4 housemates from Smith and the roads their lives take. The ending was a little abrupt though.

So that was my beach reading! I need to get a new stack from the library---any suggestions? I read the ENTIRE Sookie Stackhouse series this summer--I really wish a new book would come out soon!

These are on my list, but to buy, not check out :)

Gotta get some season-appropriate reading material :)

Happy Thursday! Only one day to go!

All images are from Amazon.com.

Thoughts for Tuesday

I don't really feel like putting a whole post together, so y'all just get a list of points. Enjoy :)

  • JR and I had a great vacation! 3 days of relaxing on the beach. I read 2 1/2 books(to be discussed tomorrow!), got a little tan, and ate so much shrimp I'm surprised I didn't turn into one.
  • The only downside to the weekend---it's over.
  • Actually, one more downside---my Dawg's lost :( I give them credit, though, for being the only SEC team(besides Bama, who played Va Tech) to play a tough opening game. Sorry, I'm not impressed with your double-digit win over Charleston Southern, WKU, or Jackson State.
  • The hoopla over President Obama's speech to school kids this morning is ridiculous. How can encouraging kids to stay in school(read the speech here) and focus on their future be a socialist agenda? Now, if he had discussed health care, economic policy, etc in the speech, I would say he was out of line. I believe politic only belong in schools in the setting of a high school debate/civics/current event class. But I applaud the speech he gave today, and think Memphis City Schools should play it on repeat throughout the day, every day. Maybe even make students memorize it.
  • I bought a great pumpkin spice candle tonight at Wal-Mart. It's by Febreeze and I highly reccommend it for all the fall lovers out there! My apartment smells amazing. I hate buying candles, lighting them, and then not being able to smell them at all, don't you? It was only $5--a great deal.
  • That candle was $5 of $85 I spent at Wal-Mart tonight on groceries and a couple of household items. Add that to the $30 I spent at Whole Foods and I need to retire my debit card for the rest of the week!
  • I'm hopping back on the health & fitness train. I've been slacking and it shows. I had a Dr. appointment a couple of weeks ago; I weigh 2 pounds less than I thought, but about 7 more than I'd like too. My goal is to lose those 7 by October 10--the UGA v. UT game
  • Speaking of UGA--time to apply my 2nd coat of red nail polish. Have a good night!

Vacation!

I've been so busy, I didn't have a chance to respond to any comments, awards, or do Wednesday words! JR and I are heading to the beach today--See you all when I return!

Have a great long weekend!
